A space opened up, right on the corner, with brightly lit windows and wood floors. Just across from the popular Colorado Boy Brewery, and on a lovely walking street, we couldn’t say no.
Potter Deidra Krois, Blacksmith Jill Rikkers, Encaustic and Photographic artist Shauna Tewksbury, and myself, make up the shop. Deidra creates inviting ceramics that display inspirational words, quotes and poetry in combination with hand drawn lines and textures. Her plates, mugs and wall hangings also features many of my hand drawn illustrations, from mountains to ocean waves to Day of the Dead Skeletons.
Shauna Tewksbury’s highly creative photographic pieces currently explore the combination of layering of beeswax with her images and pigment to create one of a kind encaustic photography pieces.
Blacksmith Jill Rikkers forges artful serving pieces – each hammered individually – so no two pieces are alike.
This summer, tourists who stroll the newly paved streetscape of this rural mountain town, are able to peruse a diverse collection of art products and mediums at a variety of price ranges.
If you’re in Ridgway, Colorado, stop by 609 Clinton Street to see the Mountain Girl Gallery in person. Regular gallery hours are 10am-4pm Thursday through Sunday. We plan to keep the gallery open just for the summer!
