My latest show at Cimarron Coffee and Books in southwest Colorado. Photo by Shauna Tewksbury
When the uber-chill, blue haired Matron named Sara with glitter eye shadow asked me to do another show under new ownership, I thought it would be a hoot.
I sketched a chalk mural on the display wall Friday night, and we popped several bottles of chilled white wine, and tapped a pony keg. Plates of cheese and crackers settled between miniature flower pots that Sara placed around the gallery room. Folks strolled in and out on a warm pre-summer eve, with bone chillin’ strings playing on the patio.
The art itself was a mixture of heartfelt spray paint experiments to clip art birds, bedazzled with high end Golden Metallic Paints. Playful collaged tequila, coffee, tulips and Mexican Loteria cards made up several of the smaller paintings. White canvases with “word art” adorned the west wall – my favorite quotes with handmade stamps and thick luscious layers of paints and gels on canvas.
All in all it was a tasty evening with several sales, meeting new people and being with friends. Thanks to everyone who took the time out of their busy lives to come by! The show is up through June, stop by and check out Cimarron Coffee and Books at 80 Sherman St, Ridgway, CO.
