Mamma Tried - Cow Skull
This piece speaks to anyone who's felt the magnetic pull of the Southwest desert. Like Georgia O'Keeffe before us, I've been drawn to the raw beauty of cow skulls - nature's perfect sculpture, weathered by sun and time.
Using collage and spray paint, I created layers of textures and transparencies that invite you in deeper. Look closely and you'll discover ghost-like flowers, words from Jack Kerouac, repair tags and more. The edges are a smoky blue and the horns have hand-detailed gold designs, catching light like the desert sun on sandstone.
What makes this piece special is its tactile quality - the horns have a weathered texture that makes you want to reach out to touch them. While the skull appears to have basked in decades of desert sun, you'll see spray paint ghosts underneath.
This is more than wall art - it's a piece of the Southwest's soul, perfect for anyone who feels called to the desert's timeless wisdom. Each time you pass by, you'll notice something new.
