I had been buried deep in our little valley, in life, in bills, in work, dishes, heartache. To rise above it, to see this blissful white world, shimmering, a field of endless diamonds and mountains. To be lifted into its breast, high above all the every day things that weigh.me.down. This comfort, this soulful hammock. This.
The Sun Never Says is a 6 ft wide mixed media diptych mountain painting, with sweeping brushes strokes of cool blues, lavenders, and a thousand whites. (A hundred names for snow, so the eskimo legend goes.) Scraps of poetry and storybooks, rice papers, india ink and textured stamps adorn this canvas. It will be on display at The Butcher and The Baker restaurant, on the main street of Telluride, until Thanksgiving.
THE SUN NEVER SAYS
Even
After
All this time
The sun never says to the earth,
“You owe
Me.”
Look
What happens
With a love like that,
It lights the
Whole
Sky.
