In the Flow
I had been working with a world class Fly Fishing outfitter for months, looking at their incredible photos of fish, and people pulling fish out of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River. I've spent so much time rock climbing there, on it's enormous walls. And the fish photos just got in my head, and started coming out on canvas.
I started this painting with spray paint during a snow storm...
... which had the most organic effect, like the bottom of a stream with all the pebbles that are worn by centuries of water rolling over them.
I could feel the cool water on my barefeet:
And I just began to paint these fish, combing all of my favorite materials, like stencils and collage, and illustration.
