Here's how it looks hanging on the wall.
Mt. Sneffels Emerald – I just finished this new painting for my upcoming exhibit at 610 Arts Collective in June! For those of us who are lucky enough to live in these unbelievably gorgeous mountain range, this one is the jewel. It always reminds me of a throne.
Over the years I've climbed several routes up her mighty shoulders, including an attempt at the North Face, back in my climbing days, where we were showered by football sized rocks and retreated.
I think the most amazed I've ever been on this mountain is standing on the summit and looking down at the rock glaciers that pour down her sides. They are easily overlooked, and quite a phenomena! Also, seeing a storm move over Lizard Head and reach us in NO TIME!
Also the time my brother's pack with a $2000 camera and $1000 in cash was dropped down an icy couloir.. and then retrieved.
This painting has layers of Emerald Greens, Iridescent Gold, and handmade papers. I'll keep you posted on when the Art Opening is. I don't know about you, but I can't wait for the summer festivities here in town!
