From self-doubt to gorgeous paintings (the shift that changed everything)

Hello beautiful artist,

I’m honored to share my student Amy’s art with you today. She has worked hard over the last 10 weeks to create many paintings with me, in her own voice. This week she sent me a powerful email, and I wanted to share some of her words with you to encourage you with your own Art …

She was writing to me to say how much my mentoring program changed her life. But there was one thing in particular that made all the difference in her art. Here are her words:

I learned how important it is to take care of yourself and be intentional with your thoughts. I also learned how to embrace new techniques and paint a little less tight. And learning that I can proudly call myself an artist is invaluable. … I would’ve painted the rest of my life, wishing I could be an artist someday. The idea of that seems crazy now. I’ve been an artist all along!”

What she said is so profound because what happened to Amy is that, yes, she did become a stronger painter and learned to own her strengths and make more sophisticated paintings that reflected her heart and voice…

But even bigger than that, she learned to direct her thoughts. Notice when she says, “I learned how important it is to take care of yourself and be intentional with your thoughts.” Here she is learning that she can direct her own life by watching her thoughts and adjusting them to point them in the right direction.

So often we let our thoughts run away with us. Keeping us stuck in old places or harmful self talk.

For example, she learned that she had a deep pattern of thoughts where she beat herself up and didn’t believe in herself.

When Amy realized she could shift these thoughts, she began to change them to tell herself things like, “It’s OK, I’m just learning”, and then eventually to tell herself, “Look at all that beautiful art you’re creating – you’re actually an artist.”

What I’m sharing with you here is how Amy actually changed her entire belief about herself through the process of creating art and shifting her thoughts.

I’m sharing this with you because I want you to know that you can do this too.

The biggest thing that Amy said that was so valuable was “I could’ve spent the rest of my life wishing I was an artist someday. The idea of that seems crazy now.”

Amy literally awoke consciously to the realization that she’s been an artist all along. She just had to to two things:

  1. open herself to create art, which we did through the process I taught her with my guidance and love

  2. and secondly, shift her thoughts to begin believing in herself

These two things are what changed Amy’s life. She went from not believing in herself and feeling very discouraged about herself – to being an artist. She will now spend the rest of her life creating, and knowing that she can do this.

She will no longer beat herself up if she makes a bad painting because she knows it’s just part of the process.

When you make big shifts like this in your thoughts, you make them in yourself.

And it’s bigger than you. It also changes your family legacy. Imagine the gifts that Amy can now share with her son by loving and embracing her true creative self. She now will be able to encourage her son to do the same. This is how we shift our family to an even more beautiful story.

I know that this email is so much more than just about Art, but Art is so much more than just about the painting. It is who you are and how you walk through your life. It is how you affect everything around you. It is how everything around you affects you.

See if you can start small today, and begin to shift one thought of yours towards believing you are worthy, or good enough, or whatever is holding you back in your own art. Who knows, it could change everything like it did for Amy.

Amy now has a gorgeous series of paintings created, (which you can see above) and is over the moon on how she feels waking up each day.

With love and creativity,

Kellie
