Hi! Here’s a quickie video from my studio this summer.

Right now I’m making a lot of art, and not necessarily art I will show.

I’m not exactly sure where it’s going, but I’m giving myself the freedom to just follow my muse. Colors I want to explore, shapes, themes, layers, playfulness. All of these explorations lead to artistic confidence.

Watch why that’s important and see what’s happening here:

It can feel a little lost when you’re not finishing great paintings that are going somewhere, paintings you feel proud to show. But the play you do and the exploration you do is all contributing to you becoming a better artist and finding your next thing.

That’s how confidence is made. That’s how new, incredible bodies of work are made. That’s how your authentic expression comes forth.

It doesn’t come forth by pressuring it to come out as a great painting. It’s just by allowing yourself to be free and see what happens. (read that again)
