Connecting with Your True Purpose through Art

Connecting to your true purpose through art

This video is taken from my facebook group, Transform Your Art from Dabbling to Professional Quality

What does it mean to be “an artist”, and connecting with your True Purpose?

Lately I’ve been hearing from a lot of women who feel like they are not “in alignment” with what they are supposed to be doing in life. They tell me there’s an artist inside of them screaming to come out.

When women aren’t living in alignment with who they’re supposed to be, or their life purpose, it feels like this –

  • They don’t feel PERSONALLY fulfilled
  • They aren’t as happy as they want to be
  • They say they aren’t living their adventurous spirit that they had as a young woman, (and where did that go?)
  • They aren’t excited and inspired with their lives
  • Or some of them say that everything else is wonderful – their husband, their kids, maybe they’ve had a rewarding career, but they are missing that one thing that gives them purpose and meaning for THEMSELVES.

A lot of women think they can keep putting their creativity on hold and shoving their creative calling down… OR subduing it with a little dabbling over the years … but never really giving it their ALL.

They continue to make sure their husband is happy, their house is in order, their books are balanced… BEFORE they do their art.

The truth is that true artists, don’t wait for any of these things to be in order before creating their art.

You know why? Because their art would never get made.

**The women who keep waiting for everything to be in order, or for it to be “the right time”, never truly make their art happen.**

Being a true artist, or a professional artist, means treating it like a job because you VALUE your artistic expression. You value being able to create from a SOUL LEVEL.

It involves taking risks, being willing to make mistakes, having faith, and most of all believing in yourself, and that you have something valuable to share.

It involves investing in yourself, just like you invested in your college degree or professional training, or your kids college.

As Steven Pressfield says…

“What we get when we turn pro is, we find our power. We find our will and our voice and we find our self-respect. We become who we always were but had, until then, been afraid to embrace and to live out.”

Becoming that artist you have inside finally is simply a decision. It’s a decision to be dedicated to connecting with who you were born to be, NOW. And not putting it off any longer. My students tell me that this ONE DECISION was life changing for them.

It takes a leap of faith. And it happens by doing something different than you are currently doing. If you keep doing what you’re doing, you will get the same results.

If you get out of your comfort zone and really go for your art, this is often scary, because you don’t know what it’s going to look like.

**and this is what stops most women**

The truth is that the magic happens  OUT of your comfort zone. This is how you connect with, and finally start living your life as an Artist.

When you’re finally living as the artist you were mean to be, and honoring that part of you, here’s what it looks like…
