There are two attitudes I see regularly when talking with Artists. One of the attitudes will make your Art dream a reality, the other will keep you stuck.

When it really comes down to it, You have to be more committed to your Art dream more than your excuses.

Some people have protections that get put in place – maybe they had an abusive or highly critical upbringing a long time ago – and these protections kept them safe. But now, at age 50 or 60, the protections are no longer needed. Now they hold people back from their dreams.

These protections may show up as excuses why Artists can’t go big with their Art:

“I don’t have enough time/money/space”.

“I have to see what my husband/family/friends say first”.

“I have so much going on in my life, I’ll just keep trying it on my own.”

If you want to be a happy, successful Artist for the rest of your life, you have to be more committed to your dream more than your excuses. Ie – those old protections that are keeping you small.

Your protections are no longer keeping you SAFE, they are keeping you SMALL.
