Don’t Wait for Permission to Create Your Art Life

Don’t Wait for Permission to Create Your Art Life

Don’t wait for permission to start your Art life. Most often it will never come.

The time is never perfect. Your family will always need you. The world isn’t going to open up and tell you it’s “OK” to do it.

The only person who can give you permission to make Art is you.

Today I’m here to empower you to create the Art life you want. I talk with many women who want to create their Art life badly.

They’re ready to do it now, they’ve found the perfect program or mentor. And then their husband or their head talks them out of it.

The thing is, it’s not your husband’s fault. No one else is going to understand how important your Art is unless you do. The only person that can give you permission is you.

You are the only thing holding your Art back.

Often women follow their husband moving from job to job, like my mom did, or supporting him in his own hobbies that he loves. He is not waiting for permission from you to play golf, go boating, or build a wood shop. Why are you waiting for permission to become an Artist?

The only women that will become Artists are the women who empower themselves to say, “I’m important enough to create what I want in my life.” That’s exactly what my mom did. She had to move and follow my dad from job to job, but stayed dedicated to her painting the whole time. She ended up landing several galleries and selling her wild horse paintings for up to $12,000!

Here are five ways to know that you deserve to create the Art life you love:

ONE: Know that what you feel in your gut is just as important as what your partner or family wants for themselves. You count.

TWO: Practice confidence by telling your family members what is important to you, and standing firmly behind that. You are strong if you stand up for yourself. AND you’ll be an inspiration to your children.

If you’re not able to share your dreams with family or they’re not supportive, then practice telling a trusted friend.

Practicing confidence and taking steps towards it is the way to build confidence.

THREE: Know that you have something worth sharing. So many women are afraid to go for their Art because they say, “Everyone else is making something better, why should I try?”.

Art is not about who has the most talent. It’s about who’s willing to share themselves and what’s unique about them.

The world wants to see who you are and what you have to share. This is the journey of your Art.

FOUR: Be bold enough to create your own Art. Even when you’re not feeling confident or good enough, fake it ‘till you make it.

These small actions will create belief in yourself. If you aren’t sure how to do this, get help. (see below)

FIVE: Know that there will be missteps and give yourself grace. If you make some bad paintings, or irritate a family member, give yourself grace.

If you don’t stand up for your Art, no one will. In time, 40 years will have gone by and you’ll still be the unsung Artist that never created the life you want, while everyone else did.

Nobody is going to create the life you want for you. You’re the only one who can. My mom inspired me to be an Artist, and now I’m an inspiration to my son. Who will you be an inspiration to?

Don’t wait for permission. Value yourself and know that you are worth it. You are a beautiful, individual woman who has something worth sharing with the world – all because you are different, your life experience is unique, and people want to see your story.

Even if you touch one person with your Art, it will have been worth it.

Here are some ways you can start creating TODAY. Give yourself permission to…

  • Buy those fun supplies
  • Spend 2 hours painting for you, and put the chores last
  • Sign up for a class or program with a teacher you love
  • Plan a girls night where you get together, sip yummy beverages and make something fun
  • Go to an Art gallery and walk around getting inspired

And if you’re tired of trying to figure it out on your own, and you’re ready for an Art Mentor to help you move your Art forward faster, I can help…

I’ve opened a few times on my calendar this week to speak with a few empowered women. If you know you count, and are ready to create the Art life you want, you can book an Art Breakthrough Call with me here. We’ll find out what’s holding you back, what you need to move forward, and if I can help, I’ll show you what that looks like.

Please do not book a call with me if you are looking for free information. These calls are for women who are ready to live their best Art life now, invest in themselves, and get the support they need. If that’s you I’d love to speak with you!

XO
