Her Art was Her Life Raft – an Interview with painter Bille von Roeder

Interview with Artist Bille von Roeder

Bille was making Art but she wasn’t that happy with it. Her husband had become ill and she had to stay close to home, and felt trapped. So she set up an Art studio there, to try to add light to her spirit, and have an escape.

In the beginning of working in her home studio, Bille was doing realistic animal portraits, but was not happy with her process of painting. She didn’t know how to let go, and painting began to feel like a chore. She began to search for how to find ease in her painting.

In less than a year, Bille create a series of paintings, discovered her own unique style, and begin to sell her Art. She became the first mixed media artist in her local Art Association, was accepted into a juried show with her large-scale Cowgirl painting, and right now you has a number of pieces in a show at a Gallery in Ontario.

Listen to her story here of how she did it here:

“I really needed to be pushed to do something different…and I had no idea how to get out of that.”

She felt SO stuck, that after a while she didn’t even go into her studio. With her husband at the beginning of dementia, her life felt very confining.

“When I saw your video on facebook it called to me, and really gave me a whole new way of being.”

We began to work together, and she learned to have more freedom with her subjects – to not be so photographic.

“All of a sudden it just opened up – it was more of me expressing what was inside of me, instead of what was in front of me. That was a huge change.”

Bille’s Art began coming out of her in joyful ways. The freedom of mixed media and adding collage and making patterns began to free her. Her art became a life raft for her.

One of Bille's big paintings after working with art mentor Kellie Day

“This really changes your mindset on what’s okay to do, and relieves that pressure of what you think, or what society thinks – and allows you play and find out what’s IN THERE.”

Now she knows how to paint “outside the box”, and to use her painting to navigate the challenges in life.

“I needed some fun… and now I just love the process of being able to creatively express what’s going on in my life.”

Find out all the juicy details in her eye-opening interview above!

Ps. If you’re like Bille was, and you want to learn how to paint what’s INSIDE of you, you can book an Art Breakthrough Call with me like she did, and find out how I can help you too!  (Please don’t book a call with me if you are just looking for free information.) These calls are for women who are ready to work with an Art Mentor, invest in themselves, and transform their Art now. If that’s you, I’d love to talk with you.
